Yellow Zebra Isopods for Sale (Armadillidium maculatum)
Take everything great about our classic Zebras and swap the white stripes for sunny yellow. Yellow Zebras are a striking morph of Armadillidium maculatum, with bold yellow-and-black bands that make them one of the most eye-catching roly-polies you can keep.
Like the original, they're calm, passive and easy to care for, and they roll into a tight little ball when disturbed. A small group in a display enclosure always gets a reaction.
Origin: A. maculatum are native to France. Commonly referred to as Yellow Zebras in the isopod community, these morphs of the Zebra Isopod have stunning yellow stripes.
HPI Preferred Habitat Targets: 65–75°F; supporting relative humidity around 50–70%; maintain a clear moisture gradient with roughly half the substrate moist and half progressively drier, plus good ventilation along the drier side. Provide cork bark, leaf litter and a dependable moist retreat; avoid uniformly wet conditions. Recommended substrate depth 2-3"+.
Diet: As with most isopod species, their main diet should be lots of leaf litter, decaying wood and a calcium supply. Supplement with organic fresh veggies and protein.
Reproduction: Moderate (Brood size 20+)
Perfect For: Beginner keepers, drier bioactive setups that still provide a dedicated moist hydration zone, display enclosures, and Zebra fans who want something a little brighter.
Ordering: Priced per isopod, with a minimum of 3 per species, perfect for adding new genetics to an existing colony. Starting a new colony? We recommend 6–20 (see How Many Isopods Should I Get?). Bulk discounts apply automatically.
Restrictions: Due to state permitting requirements, we are not allowed to ship these isopods to Florida.
