White Springtails for Sale — Folsomia candida
White Springtails are tiny clean-up crew microfauna used in humid bioactive enclosures. They feed on decaying organic matter, fungi and many types of mold, helping recycle organic material and support a functioning enclosure ecosystem.
They pair well with isopods and are also commonly used in planted terrariums, vivariums, bioactive reptile and amphibian enclosures, dart frog setups and other consistently moist habitats where Folsomia candida is appropriate.
This starter culture is designed to help establish your own colony. Add the culture to a suitable enclosure or maintain a separate master culture to seed multiple bioactive setups over time.

Habitat: White Springtails thrive in consistently moist environments and are best suited for humid and tropical bioactive enclosures. Unlike some springtail species, Folsomia candida is not recommended for arid or dry setups.
Diet: Springtails naturally feed on decaying organic matter, fungi and mold within the enclosure. Starter cultures can be maintained by occasionally feeding small amounts of uncooked rice or other appropriate springtail foods while keeping the culture moist.
Reproduction: Fast and highly prolific under suitable conditions.
Useful For: Isopod bins, bioactive terrariums, planted vivariums, suitable reptile and amphibian enclosures, dart frog setups, microfauna cultures and classroom or homeschool observation of decomposition and small-scale ecosystem processes.

Unpacking your Springtails
Unpacking your Springtails
We ship your springtails on a custom blend of Calcium Clay that is still moist.
To extract your springtails and continue culturing more into the desired enclosure:
1. Open the lid.
2. Pour the water/springtails into the desired enclosure "seeding the enclosure".
3. After seeding the enclosure, you can add 1 piece of raw rice to the starter cup.
4. Lightly mist the clay with room-temp water (the clay should remain moist but not flooded).
5. Close the lid and keep at room temperature (away from direct sunlight).
• Typically, the starter cultures have many microscopic babies. Repeat steps 1-5 to continually culture more springtails.
