Ukraine Pied Isopods for Sale (Cylisticus convexus)
Finally, an isopod that doesn't want to be kept toasty.
Ukraine Pieds are a timid European species that prefers it on the cooler side, so they're a great fit if your house runs cool or you don't want to fuss with heat. Give them plenty of leaf litter and airflow, and they'll reward you with fast reproduction.
Origin: Timid European species.
HPI Preferred Habitat Targets: 65–73°F; supporting relative humidity around 60–75%; keep roughly two-thirds of the substrate moist with the opposite surface progressively drier under ventilation. Maintain a gradual moisture transition, plenty of leaf litter and airflow; avoid tropical heat, complete drying, or waterlogging.
Diet: As with most isopod species, their main diet should be lots of leaf litter, decaying wood and a calcium supply. Supplement with organic fresh veggies & protein.
Reproduction: Fast
Perfect For: Cooler rooms, keepers who'd rather skip the heat mat, and anyone who wants something a little different.
Ordering: Priced per isopod, with a minimum of 3 per species. Starting a new colony? We recommend 6–20 (see How Many Isopods Should I Get?). Bulk discounts apply automatically.
