Origin: Native to southern Europe and the Mediterranean region, Porcellionides pruinosus is one of the most popular isopod species in the hobby thanks to its hardiness, adaptability and rapid reproduction.

HPI Preferred Habitat Targets: 70–80°F; supporting relative humidity around 60–75%; maintain a clear moisture gradient with roughly one-third to one-half of the substrate moist and the remainder progressively drier, plus good ventilation. Provide a moist sphagnum or hydration retreat and avoid keeping the entire enclosure saturated.

Diet: Their primary diet should consist of decaying leaf litter and rotting hardwood. They also benefit from a quality calcium source, such as limestone or cuttlebone, along with supplemental foods including quality isopod diets, vegetables, fruits, and occasional protein offered in moderation.
