Panda Kings hold a special place here at Holy-Poly. Along with Zebras, they were the very first species we brought home from the reptile show where this whole thing began, so we're admittedly a little biased.

With their adorable little faces, striking black-and-white pattern and curious personalities, it's easy to see why Panda Kings are one of the most popular Cubaris species. They're shy and spend a lot of time under leaf litter and cork bark, but they're also an excellent clean-up crew and one of the more beginner-friendly Cubaris out there.

Origin: Originally from the humid caves of Vietnam.

HPI Preferred Habitat Targets: 72–78°F; supporting relative humidity around 70–85%; keep roughly 80% of the substrate/moisture zone consistently damp with a smaller, less-wet refuge and low-to-moderate ventilation. The substrate should stay humid and aerated, not saturated or stagnant. Recommended substrate depth 3-4".

Diet: Their primary diet should consist of decaying leaf litter and rotting hardwood. They also benefit from a quality calcium source, such as limestone, along with occasional supplemental foods including isopod diets, vegetables, fruits, and protein offered in moderation.

Reproduction: Moderate. Healthy colonies reproduce steadily under proper conditions, making Panda Kings one of the more beginner-friendly Cubaris species while still being rewarding for experienced keepers.

Are Panda King isopods good for beginners? Yes. Panda Kings are one of the more beginner-friendly Cubaris and a great first step into Cubaris keeping.

How fast do Panda Kings breed? Steadily. Cubaris breed slower than powder isopods, but Panda Kings are one of our most productive Cubaris colonies when kept warm and humid with plenty of leaf litter and calcium.

Where do Panda Kings come from? The Panda King line is traced to Vietnam. Ours are captive bred at Holy-Poly Isopods.

When do you ship live isopods? Live animals ship on Tuesdays so packages don’t sit in a carrier facility over the weekend.
