Oreo Crumble Isopods for Sale (Porcellionides pruinosus)
Oreo Crumble Isopods are one of the most eye-catching color morphs of Porcellionides pruinosus, featuring a beautiful blend of black, white, and gray that gives them their well-known cookies-and-cream appearance. Their unique pattern, constant activity, and hardy nature make them an excellent choice for both beginner and experienced keepers.
Like other Porcellionides pruinosus morphs, Oreo Crumble Isopods are always on the move. Their healthy appetite and rapid reproduction make them one of the best clean-up crews available for bioactive enclosures, while their striking coloration makes them just as enjoyable to observe as they are beneficial.
Origin: Native to southern Europe and the Mediterranean region, Oreo Crumble Isopods are a color morph of Porcellionides pruinosus. Their hardiness, adaptability, and active behavior have made this species one of the most popular choices in the isopod hobby.
Habitat: This hardy species thrives in enclosures with moderate humidity (around 50%), temperatures between 70-78°F, and 2-3 inches of quality substrate. Be sure to provide a hydration station with moist sphagnum moss, along with plenty of leaf litter, cork bark, and decaying hardwood.
Oreo Crumble Isopods adapt well to a wide variety of bioactive enclosures, from semi-arid setups to tropical environments, making them a popular choice for snakes, leopard geckos, crested geckos, and many other reptiles.
Diet: Their primary diet should consist of plenty of decaying leaf litter and rotting hardwood. They also benefit from a quality calcium source, along with supplemental foods including quality isopod diets, vegetables, fruits, and protein offered in moderation.
Reproduction: Fast, Highly Prolific (Typical brood size: 20-30).
Perfect For: Beginner keepers, bioactive enclosures, reptile keepers, classrooms, families, display terrariums, and anyone looking for an active, easy-to-keep isopod with a unique black-and-white appearance.
