Orange Vigor Isopods for Sale (Armadillidium vulgare)
It's right there in the name: these pods have vigor.
Orange Vigors are a bright orange roly-poly morph of Armadillidium vulgare, and they're a very hardy species. They also have one of the more eclectic menus in our isopod room. (Rabbit manure? Yes, really.)
Origin: Armadillidium vulgare is native to the Mediterranean region.
HPI Preferred Habitat Targets: 65–75°F; supporting relative humidity around 50–70%; keep roughly one-third to one-half of the substrate consistently moist with the remainder progressively drier, and maintain good cross-ventilation. Avoid waterlogging or keeping the entire enclosure wet.
Diet: As with most isopod species, their main diet should be lots of leaf litter and decaying wood. Supplement with dried shrimp, rabbit manure, organic cucumbers, egg shells, freeze dried peas and green beans.
Perfect For: Beginner keepers, bioactive enclosures, and anyone who wants a tough, colorful roly-poly.
Ordering: Priced per isopod, with a minimum of 3 per species. Starting a new colony? We recommend 6–20 (see How Many Isopods Should I Get?). Bulk discounts apply automatically.
