RARE Opal Isopods for Sale (Cubaris sp.)
Like the gemstone they're named after, no two Opals look quite alike.
These rare beauties from Thailand throw different patterns that are mesmerizing, and they're calmer than most Cubaris (not easily spooked), so you actually get to enjoy the show. Fair warning: they take their sweet time breeding, which is part of why they stay rare.
Origin: Thailand.
HPI Preferred Habitat Targets: 72–79°F; supporting relative humidity around 70–80%; keep roughly one-quarter to one-third of the enclosure consistently moist and allow the remainder to stay progressively drier, with good cross-ventilation. Hobby husbandry varies on overall humidity, so HPI prioritizes a stable moisture gradient over chasing one hygrometer number. Recommended substrate depth 2-3"+.
Diet: As with most isopod species, their main diet should be lots of leaf litter, decaying wood and a calcium supply. Supplement with organic fresh veggies & protein.
Reproduction: Slow
Perfect For: Collectors, display terrariums, and patient keepers who want something truly special.
Ordering: Priced per isopod, with a minimum of 3 per species. Starting a new colony? We recommend 6–20 (see How Many Isopods Should I Get?). Bulk discounts apply automatically.
