Dry, dead leaves are a main staple of our isopod diet. Additionally, many isopods choose to hide underneath the leaves. Reptile and amphibian owners have been known to add them to their enclosures to build a more realistic habitat for their animals. Dart Frog enthusiasts typically add leaf litter to the top of the substrate, so their small colorful frogs have more surface to hop around on as well.
We package your choice of available leaf litter into 1 Quart Bags.
  • Sizes of leaves vary. 
  • Due to large sizes of leaves, sterilization/drying processes, and shipping… most leaves will arrive broken (however many caretakers prefer to break the leaves before adding to their enclosure). 
  • Isopod-Safe “Bonus Items” are often found in the leaf litter (examples: acorn, acorn caps, twigs, etc).
  • We harvest our Oak Leaves from a pesticide-free local farm. These oak trees are Coastal Live Oaks. The leaves have pointed tips. We successfully use these with our isopods, and recommend wearing gloves.

Due to popular demand, we created our own leaf litter blend which is a combination of all our leaf varieties. We hand break (not powderize) this bag to offer more variety and more leaf litter per bag.
