Jupiter Isopods for Sale (Cubaris sp.)
Big name, tiny planet.
Jupiter isopods are adorable soft-bodied Cubaris whose banded colors are said to resemble the rings of their namesake. (Yes, Saturn gets all the ring fame, but Jupiter has faint ones too. We looked it up.)
Out of this world looks aside, they're hard workers that consume waste and decaying matter to keep your tank clean, and they reproduce fast.
HPI Preferred Habitat Targets: 72–79°F; supporting relative humidity around 70–80%; keep about one-third of the enclosure consistently damp and allow the remaining area to run progressively drier under cover. Use moderate cross-ventilation with vents on opposing sides and avoid stagnant, uniformly wet conditions.
Diet: As with most isopod species, their main diet should be lots of leaf litter and decaying wood. Try supplementing with organic vegetables high in carotenoids (such as pumpkin, carrot, corn, sweet peppers) and dried shrimp. Carotenoids are yellow, orange, and red pigments that are produced by certain plants and algae.
Reproduction: Fast Reproducing
Perfect For: Cubaris fans, humid bioactive enclosures, and anyone who wants a planet in their terrarium.
Ordering: Priced per isopod, with a minimum of 3 per species. Starting a new colony? We recommend 6–20 (see How Many Isopods Should I Get?). Bulk discounts apply automatically.
